How To Become More Organic In Your Everyday Life

Organic living is a lifestyle that will benefit your own health, as well as the environment. Ways that you can live a more organic lifestyle includes:

  1. Eating organic foods: eat more fruits and vegetables, particularly those grown without the use of chemicals. All the chemicals used on fresh food we purchase from the supermarket are not good for your body at all. You should also reduce or eliminate any processed meats. However, you do not have to go all in – even if it’s just the occasional substitution of an organic food source – anything is better than nothing.
  2. Growing an organic garden: this is the best way to ensure that the foods you are eating are cultivated without harmful pesticides or chemicals that are detrimental to one’s health. Adding compost or organic fertilisers can give your garden all the nutrients it needs, naturally. Just a few small changes to organic methods of tending to your garden is a step in the right direction and could benefit your soil health and therefore your plants.
  3. Undertaking organic cleaning: many may think that an organic lifestyle starts and ends with the foods you consume, but it’s way more than that. Using organic cleaning products means products that come from natural resources, such as baking soda, vinegar, etc. Start using these in your home and just wait to see the difference! You should also consider washing your laundry in a bag that is specifically designed to stop microplastics from entering our waterways and harming the environment.
  4. Using organic beauty products: there are so many organic beauty products in the market that you can take advantage of, that are produced with natural and HEALTHY ingredients! Start showing your skin and the environment the love it deserves!

How To Grow More Organically

Growing food organically is important when ensuring your own health and wellbeing. The chemicals and pesticides that are used on the fresh food we purchase at the supermarket are not doing us any favours – that’s why we HIGHLY RECOMMEND having a garden of your own.

Ways that you can improve your own health and grow fruits and vegetables organically includes:

  1. Using organic compost and mulch: this is one of the most important aspects of your garden! Your soil needs to have organic matter so that microorganisms have plenty of food to get into and release important plant nutrients as well as improving the water holding capacity of your soil.
  2. Using an organic garden fertiliser: fertilising your garden with nutrient rich organic matter can be so important to ensuring plant health and growth. Verasoil is a great 100% organic fertiliser that you can add to your garden or plants. It allows your plants to grow to their full potential, whilst protecting them from pests, and helping your plant be more tolerant to less water supply.
  3. Hand weeding your garden: rather using weed killers, hand weeding your garden is cost effective and avoids using any harsh chemicals that could potentially be harmful to your soil. Alternatively, covering up weeds with cardboard or using organic mulches to suppress weeds from starting in the first place can be just as helpful.

  4. Healthy soil supports healthy strong plants: Verasoil can boost your soil health and in turn your plants own self defence capabilities against both diseases and the elements.

  5. Complementary planting: plan your planting so that individual plants come together to better help ward off nasty pests and diseases through their own natural defence mechanisms.

So that’s some of our tips on how to lead a more organic lifestyle! We hope that you learned something and try some of these out for yourself. Do you religiously do something organic that everyone else needs to know? Let us know in the comments!
